Precautions There are some safety issues that should be considered before/while taking the exams. For additional information, view types of studies. Proper clothing, changing rooms, and lockers are provided. Always inform the technician of any allergies, medications, or recent surgeries you have had. MRI Test: 1. Do not wear any clothing with metal zippers or buttons 2. Do not wear any necklaces, earrings, hair pins, fake eyelashes or other jewelry 3. Patients with implanted pacemaker or other medical devices, or eyes with metals inside, cannot take an MRI test 4. Patients who have any metal inside their bodies must notify the doctor before taking an MRI test CT Test: 1. Do not eat or drink within 8 hours before taking a CT abdomen scan 2. Patients who have any kind of allergies or had allergies must notify the doctor before taking the CT scan 3. Do not wear any clothing with metal zippers or buttons 4. Do not wear any necklaces, earrings, hair pins, fake eyelashes or other jewelry 5. If taking CT scan for urinary bladder or pelvis, patients should drink at least two(2) glasses of water one(1) hour before their test and hold urine Ultrasound Test: 1. Do not eat or drink 8 hours before taking Ultrasound of the abdomen 2. If taking urinary bladder or pelvis test, patient should drink at least two(2) glasses of water one(1) hour before test and hold urine Mammogram Test: Mammo patients must bring in films and reports of previous exams. If there are any other concerns, please feel free to call and ask. |
There is no need to worry about safety. As long as precautions are taken, there are no harms to taking the exams. If you are claustrophobic, please bring medication if you are taking an MRI or CT exam.. |
